Reader reviews of our Rhodes travel guide

"We bought the travel guide as an e-book on its release date, September 23, and are currently traveling in Rhodes. We would like to express our sincere thanks for the many great tips and recommendations. Above all, we didn't have enough time to plan our vacation in advance this time, and the well-planned tours save my wife and me a lot of research time. This allows us to embark on an adventure every day. Best regards from Charaki, Holger and family."

"Yay, you two!!! I want to thank you for the best travel guide ever! We spent 10 days in Rhodes and followed your recommended rental car tours 👍🏽👍🏽 We relaxed on the most beautiful beaches, ate at wonderful taverns, went wine tasting at a winery, and of course visited Symi! We also really liked Lindos. Just a note that your recommended parking lot currently costs 7 euros per day. We were able to use the ticket again down at the beach and in the evening. Thank you!"

The routes and recommendations for sights, restaurants, and shops were so perfect and personalized that we experienced our first vacation together as a couple in 20 years as something very special. The next book is already on our wish list. Best regards from Berlin, Diana & Mattias"

FAQ Travel Guide Rhodes

Important questions and answers about the Rhodes Guide

Do I absolutely need a rental car for the Rhodes tours?

With the exception of a few tours (including the Rhodes Town walking tour), a vehicle is required for almost all of the day trips described. We recommend renting a car to reach the more remote parts of the island. You can find more information about car rental and traffic here: Car rental in Greece

Does the Rhodes travel guide also include maps?

For each excursion, there is a rough overview map showing the individual stops and larger towns. To ensure reliable navigation for your day trip, we have created maps for you using Google Maps, which you can access via a link or QR code.

Can I get everywhere in Rhodes with a rental car?

The main roads on Rhodes are paved and therefore easily navigable. In the south, some roads are gravel, for which an off-road vehicle is recommended. Relevant information can be found in the respective chapter.

Are the most important sights included in the Rhodes travel guide?

The travel guide contains all the important sights of Rhodes. These include the capital Rhodes, the picturesque village of Lindos, the wooded area around Epta Piges, Monolithos Castle, and the coastal towns of Stegna and Charaki, which are well worth seeing.

Is Rhodes easy to explore by rental car?

With a few exceptions, the roads on Rhodes are in moderate condition. The two-lane island highway is the fastest connection between Rhodes Town and Lindos and is therefore very busy. On the side roads, however, you will hardly encounter any other vehicles. Nevertheless, you should always drive with foresight in order to recognize potential hazards (e.g., goats on the road) in good time.

How much money should I budget for the Rhodes tours?

Many of the day trips take you to beautiful places and wild nature and are therefore free of charge. Some historical sites charge a small entrance fee. Admission prices and opening hours are noted in the respective chapters.

Can I also take the Rhodes tours by bus?

Although the bus network on Rhodes is relatively well developed, apart from Tour #1 (Rhodes Town), it is not possible to take any other tours by bus, as the individual connections are not flexible enough. It is therefore advisable to rent a car, even if it is only for a few days of your vacation.

Do I also need a regular travel guide for Rhodes?

Our travel guide for the island of Rhodes is not a complete replacement for a comprehensive travel guide. It takes care of your trip planning and provides basic information about the island from A to Z. In the Lonely Planet travel guide about Rhodes, you will find more helpful information about history, the country, and its people.

Can I do the tours in the Rhodes travel guide with kids?

All day trips are also suitable for children. Of course, the individual fitness level of the children must be taken into account. However, we do not recommend the hikes to the larger island mountains for children under 12 years of age.

Are there also tours that can be done in bad weather?

Rhodes is located in the sun-drenched eastern Aegean Sea, where it hardly rains from May to September. It is not without reason that the island is also known as the sunshine island of Greece. If the weather does happen to be bad, you can visit the museums and wineries described in the travel guide.

When will the Rhodes travel guide be available as a printed book?

A printed version of our travel guide is available regularly—but only while supplies last. Sign up for our newsletter and we will inform you about the delivery date. Alternatively, our e-book is available for immediate download at any time. It can be read as a PDF file on almost all devices.
