"Dear Ella, dear Tom, I ordered your wonderful travel guide. Huge praise to you both ❤️ We saw and visited everything except Kalymnos. Everything is really well described and easy to find. We had a car the whole time and did the mountain tour with the buggy. Our highlights were the Petra Cave, the windmill, the hike on Dikeos... hmmm, no... actually everything 😂❤️ And we met so many lovely people, it's really great here... Now we have one whole day left tomorrow before we go home on Sunday...🥺 Thank you so much. You did a great job."

"I have been to the beautiful island of Kos several times and have also taken part in a few guided tours. Ella & Tom's ebook manages to capture the wonderfully easy-going lifestyle of the island. The layout has already put us in the mood for our vacation on the island, and there are great photos of all the sights that beach vacationers should see. The day trips presented offer a great view of the island with many beautiful spots and insider tips that I didn't know about before. The tours are also suitable for children and those who are less athletic. All in all, a clear recommendation for all friends of the island of Kos and those who are sure to become friends after their first vacation there."

FAQ Travel Guide Kos Island

Important questions and answers about the Kos Guide

Do I absolutely need a rental car for the Kos tours?

With the exception of the hike to Dikeos, all of the day trips described refer to routes that can be covered with a rental vehicle. Traveling by car, scooter, or quad bike is ideal for reaching even the most remote parts of the island. You can find out more here: Rental cars on Kos

Does the Kos travel guide also include maps?

For each excursion, there is a rough overview map showing the individual stops and larger towns. To ensure reliable navigation for your day trip, we have created maps for you using Google Maps, which you can access via a link or QR code.

Can I get everywhere on Kos with a rental car?

Almost all roads on Kos are paved and therefore easily navigable. Excursions #5 and #8 occasionally involve gravel roads, so an off-road vehicle is recommended. A note to this effect can be found in the respective chapter.

Are the most important sights included in the Kos travel guide?

The most important sights, such as the capital Kos Town with its numerous historical buildings, the Asklepieion sanctuary, the mountain village of Zia, and Kefalos Bay, were taken into account when planning the route.

Is Kos easy to explore by rental car?

Most roads on Kos are paved and in moderate condition. The island highway is the main multi-lane road and has heavier traffic. On the side roads, however, you will hardly encounter any other vehicles. Personally, we find the traffic situation on Kos much more relaxed than in Germany.

How much money should I budget for the Kos tours?

Many of the day trips take you to beautiful places and wild nature and are therefore free of charge. Some historical sites charge a small entrance fee. Admission prices and opening hours are noted in the respective chapters.

Can I also take the Kos tours by bus?

Day trips #1, #3, and #5 to Kos Town, along the north coast, as well as the hike on Dikeos (starting in Zia) can generally be reached by bus. All other excursions cannot be reached directly by bus. If you want to remain flexible and discover as much of Kos as possible, we recommend renting a car.

Do I also need a regular travel guide for Kos?

Our travel guide for the island of Kos is not a complete replacement for a comprehensive travel guide. It takes care of your trip planning and provides basic information about the island from A to Z. In the ADAC travel guide published by GU Verlag, you will find further helpful information about the history, country, and people.

Can I do the tours in the Kos travel guide with kids?

All day trips are also suitable for children. However, we only recommend the hike to Dikeos for older children who are fit and sure-footed.

Are there also tours that can be done in bad weather?

Kos is a sunny island, and from May to October it rarely rains for more than one or two days at a time. If the weather is a little worse than usual, day trip #1 to Kos Town and trip #6 to Plaka are also suitable for cloudy weather.

When will the Kos travel guide be available as a printed book?

A printed version of our travel guide is available regularly—but only while supplies last. Sign up for our newsletter and we will inform you about the delivery date. Alternatively, our e-book is available for immediate download at any time. It can be read as a PDF file on almost all devices.
