But after 14 days of intensive research, we were surprised how diverse this island is. In addition to the classic tourist attractions such as the shipwreck, Zakynthos offers beautiful beaches, pockets of unspoilt nature, traditional villages and a charming capital to stroll through. Both package tourists and independent travellers get their money’s worth. But mass tourism has its downsides: litter lines the roadsides and some restaurants are focused purely on quick turnover. As a place to stay, we recommend avoiding the party strip of Laganas – not our favourite part of the Greek islands. If the protection of the Caretta caretta turtles were given greater priority and the construction boom brought under control, we would have taken this island even more to our hearts.

*Support our blog Greece-Moments

In this post, you will find affiliate links marked with an asterisk (*).
