#1 Walk through Chora<\/h2>\n

The capital of Amorgos<\/strong> is somewhat hidden on a mountain ridge above the port city of Katapola. Chora is a Cycladic dream come true\u2014narrow, whitewashed streets with cube-shaped houses, small chapels and snow-white churches, pretty little shops, and traditional taverns.<\/p>\n

Chora was founded in Byzantine times as a refuge from pirate attacks. Take a day to explore the medieval labyrinth of alleys in Chora<\/strong>. Outside the traffic-calmed town center, there are free parking spaces in the west and east, or in Unterdorf and Oberdorf.<\/p>\n
