The weather is warm, the sea reaches swimming temperature by June and the island is far less crowded than in high summer. Corfu in the Ionian Sea is greener and less windy than the Cyclades \u2014 which makes the landscape so special, though July and August can occasionally bring short rain showers. The shoulder seasons are particularly beautiful on Corfu.\r\nDo you need a rental car on Corfu?|Yes, absolutely. Corfu is hilly and the most beautiful corners of the island \u2014 the stunning beaches on the west coast, Paleokastritsa, Angelokastro and Porto Timoni \u2014 are simply not easy to reach without a car. Don't underestimate the distances and the mountainous terrain. We recommend a reasonably powerful vehicle as some access roads on the west coast are steep and narrow.\r\nWhat are the must-sees on Corfu?|At the top of our list are the UNESCO old town of Corfu Town early in the morning or in the evening, Paleokastritsa with its turquoise bays and cliff-top monastery, and the double bay of Porto Timoni. The Achilleion Palace is worth a visit for the grounds \u2014 the interior is currently closed for renovation.\r\nIs a day trip to Paxos worth it?|Absolutely. Paxos and Antipaxos are just a one-hour boat ride from Corfu and are true little island gems. Antipaxos has beaches that rival the Cyclades. If you have the time, an overnight stay on Paxos is even better \u2014 the authentic island life there is a real contrast to the more touristy Corfu.\r\nHow many days should you plan for Corfu?|Seven to ten days is enough to see the main highlights of the island comfortably. Corfu has the highest hotel density in Greece after Crete and offers enough for two weeks, especially if you're planning day trips to Paxos and Antipaxos. If you only have a long weekend, focus on Corfu Town and the west coast.\r\nIs Corfu good for families with children?|Yes, very much so. Many beaches around Corfu have shallow, calm water that's perfect for children. The west coast is slightly wilder while the east coast is calmer and often more comfortable for families. Corfu Town is easy to explore on foot and the medieval old town delights children too.\r\n[\/faq]","link":"https:\/\/greece-moments.com\/en\/destinations\/islands-blog\/ionian-islands\/corfu-island\/","name":"Corfu Blog","slug":"corfu-island","taxonomy":"category","parent":589,"meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/greece-moments.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories\/590","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/greece-moments.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/greece-moments.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/taxonomies\/category"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/greece-moments.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories\/589"}],"wp:post_type":[{"href":"https:\/\/greece-moments.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts?categories=590"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
